Skyline Lacrosse Club - Letter from the President

Dear Skyline Families and Players,

Thank you for your continued support and involvement as our club progresses through a very different Spring season from anything any of us have experienced before.  We will continue to offer a clinic-based practice model for the foreseeable future and go forward on a month-to-month basis.  With that said, we are still awaiting confirmation on field space for March.  Ideally, we will keep a weekend slot at Wilder, at a minimum.  Updates will go out as new information comes in.

As we progress through the month of February, Skyline will continue to focus on safety and our ‘Return To Play’ protocols (in addition to fun).  As part of this, we ask that Parents Please:

1.Confirm player availability as far in advance of a session as possible (TeamSnap).  (This enables our coaches to clarify our pod groupings as part of our county guidelines.)

2.Complete their player’s health check (also TeamSnap) prior to arrival at the field.  (This helps expedite check-in and is required for participation.)

Thank you for your assistance on these two fronts!

Skyline continues to abide by all Orinda and Contra Costa County guidelines applicable to our sports training program.  As the California Department of Public Health provides new updates, we’ll monitor those and abide by all State, CC County and Orinda/Wilder Facilities guidelines.  For the latest, please see:

We are optimistic about the prospects of securing field space and play time over the next couple months.  We hope you are well and glad we can continue to offer a recreational solution for your children.  See you out on the field.

Skyline Club Youth Participant Details:

The February program will continue with a clinic-based training model with players placed in 3-week pods, as per the county guidelines.  We encourage all Skyline players to register for the February session so that the age groups have sound numbers for practice drills and so that teammates can work together within their respective age groups.  Players will be evaluated throughout the course of the month and will start to be aligned into pods consistent with what we would expect for specific teams, should the opportunity arise to play games in the Spring.  This will be an ongoing process without a formal "Evaluation" date. Skyline will continue to focus on fun and growth throughout the next clinic series in February and it is our hope that we can continue into March & April, pending field space availability.

Box Lacrosse is a high tempo sport which takes the elements of field lacrosse and applies it to a smaller field space (i.e. outdoor hockey rink).  Rules are similar to its field counterpart, and Box Lacrosse is an invaluable resource for players of all ages and a great experience to supplement and enhance their overall game.  Box Lacrosse is fast paced and allows players to develop their skills at a much faster rate as the sport demands speed, precision, teamwork, and the ability to plan ahead while enclosed in a smaller field space where things happen very quickly.  All Contra Costa County safety guidelines will remain in place and masks will be required for all players and coaches.

1. A COVID-19 Health Check questionnaire to include temperature checks for all players, coaches, and volunteers will be completed on the day of each practice/clinic.

2. Temperatures will be taken at check in. Hand sanitizer will be given prior to entrance on the fields.

3. Face masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn by players, coaches, and volunteers.

4. No spectators allowed at any practice.

Skyline Lacrosse Club will immediately suspend all scheduled activities in the event a player, coach, or volunteer is diagnosed with COVID-19.
